Conference Programs Assistant

ASHRAE, a nonprofit engineering society, seeks a full-time Conference Programs Assistant with strong editorial and computer skills to support the development of conferences.  Position requires a bachelor’s degree, preferably in English or Journalism, editorial experience preferably in a journal environment, association experience, and/or conference/event planning. Excellent Excel and Acrobat skills a must.  We are looking for a team player who is accurate, deadline-driven and attentive to details with the ability to see the “big picture.” This is not a writing position. Requires organizational skills for conducting conference administrative responsibilities.

Assistant Manager of Standards-Codes

ASHRAE seeks an Assistant Manager of Standards-Codes with a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or similar technical degree with 3 to 5 years experience. This position will participate in the development of building codes and standards and manage the processing and development of new and existing ASHRAE standards.

A day in the life typically includes:

  • Processing and development of consensus based standards
  • Working directly with technical experts in the fields of building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration, and sustainability
  • Guiding individuals regarding ASHRAE's processes
  • Technical writing and development of code change proposals
  • Effective communication skills
  • Collaboration with ASHRAE’s standards team
  • Diplomatic process oriented problem solving
  • Coordination with other National Standards Development Organizations

Individuals with experience or knowledge in the development of consensus based standards and codes are desired. This position requires domestic travel approximately three to four times per year.

Manager, Federal Government Affairs | Reports to the Director of Government Affairs

The ASHRAE Manager of Federal Government Affairs will track, monitor, and report on federal legislative, regulatory, and policy issues affecting ASHRAE’s constituents. This individual will be responsible for preparing summaries of these federal issues for ASHRAE members and other audiences, drafting statements and other supporting information that could be used for education and advocacy purposes (e.g., letters, testimony, fact sheets, talking points, presentations), and managing federal government affairs information on the ASHRAE website. In addition, this position will be responsible for attending and organizing Capitol Hill briefings and other coalition meetings, and assisting the Director of Government Affairs in establishing and building relationships with government officials and pertinent industry groups. The position will also identify and help secure potential federal research grants. Please review the complete job description before applying.

Director of Publications and Education

ASHRAE has an immediate full-time opening for the top management position responsible for overseeing a staff of thirty-one in our Publications and Education department. This department is responsible for the Society’s books, periodicals, electronic media and professional development resources, as well as managing intellectual property and oversees manufacturing and distribution of products.

Requirements include a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Publishing or related field, PLUS a minimum of 12 years of responsible management level experience in publishing or career development.  Travel is required along with attendance at our summer and winter conferences.  Please review the complete job description before applying.
