ASHRAE has unveiled its redesigned Website, www.ASHRAE.org. With this redesign comes better navigation, a better search engine and better tracking, all of which will help ASHRAE members find the information they need, whether it’s for their role in the industry or ASHRAE.
The simplified site navigation is now broken into six tabbed sections:
- Resources & Publications (formerly Publications)
- Standards, Research, & Technology (formerly Technology)
- Education & Certification (formerly separate sections of Education and Certification)
- Society Groups (contains information formerly under Members and About Us)
- Government Affairs (formerly Advocacy)
- Membership & Conferences (formerly separate sections of membership and events)
This redesign coincides with the ASHRAE rebranding, and both were announced during the Society’s 2012 Winter Conference held Jan. 21-25, in Chicago.
“This is the most significant update to ASHRAE.org since the site was first launched 17 years ago,” President Ron Jarnagin said during the plenary session at the Chicago conference in unveiling the redesign. “As Presidential Member Richard Hayter told us back in 1995, ‘The ASHRAE Home Page will enable practitioners in the HVAC&R industry to easily access information about ASHRAE and HVAC&R technology.’ The same remains true today – just on a much larger scale. The redesign involved moving 6,000 pages of information.”
When the site first launched in 1995, ASHRAE averaged around 500 visitors per day. By the year 2002, that figure had grown to some 3,000 user sessions daily. In 2005, ASHRAE celebrated as it reached its 1 millionth visitor to the site. By comparison, so far this year, ASHRAE.org has racked up nearly 2 million page views.
“No doubt, ASHRAE.org is perhaps the Society’s greatest tool in providing services to members, particularly those who live outside North America,” Jarnagin said.
The redesigned site is based on research consisting of member surveys and interviews, market research and competitive analysis.
